What Comes to Mind

Our dear old friend Lisa asked me in a facebook chat the other day, "So what's so nice about being there?" which got me thinking... here are a few of the things that came to mind right away:

+ it's beautiful, that's for sure
+ the pace is super slow
+ people don't stress over stupid things
+ family (and people in general) is really important - folks seem to have their priorities in check
+ we ride bicycle taxis everywhere, so we're feeling somewhat smug about carbon emissions:)

I like this activity in appreciation. So what are the best things about where you are right now?

  2. yey i was mentioned! hmm...some things i like right now (i was actually thinking about this today too, as i feel like sometimes i think about the things i don't like way too often, so its nice to have a different point of view):

+ i just bought a new car, and sold my vw :)
+ i have an awesome boyfriend who i love very very much
+ i have a job, which gives me money to pay my bills
+ i have two awesome dogs who i also love very much
+ and i guess, of course, i have food, shelter and plenty more than just essentials. so i am doing pretty good i suppose :)

  3. I like this post, it's always good to sit back and ask yourself what is great about feeling great! hah and I can empathize with you status. Being in a new place and loving it. And now that we are in the same neck of the woods, reletively speaking, we need to start planning when we can visit each other!

here are my contributions to your question:

    +it's hot and dry here
+I'm 20 min away from the beach
+the people are super friendly and helpful
    +I have good professors
+I can walk nearly everywhere I need to get to but when I cant there are free public transportation services in my immediate area and then trains that go out to suburbs! not quite as eco friendly as bike taxi's but feeling good about not driving a car every day.
+there are public gardens everywhere and great outdoor mentality

I guess I could go on but then I'd be bragging ;)
    miss you guys

+I finally moved to Tampa, my favorite place (so far), to be with my brother..

+My fav hockey team is doing GREAT:)

+I have great friends like you, that I know are helping and volunteering to make the world better for others....

  5. So nice to hear back from all of you - the blog is working! I'm glad everyone's finding joy where they are, wherever that may be.

Lisa, so glad you & Jeff are carving out a sweet life for yourselves in Cbus and have so much to be thankful for.

Cat & Cgoody, you've had some big transitions lately and we're all still riding the wave of being in exciting new places! (And I hope to visit BOTH of you before we make our trek back to Ohio:)
